What it is and what advantages it gives.
It is a parametric 3D cad that allows to model shapes, even complex ones, and to obtain the 2D documentation necessary for their industrial realization.
COMPUTES/CAD allows to shape single parts, sheet metal parts, surfaces, assemblies. The cad has advanced functions for hybrid modeling of solids and surfaces.
A suite of dedicated commands make it the ideal tool for sheet metal solids modeling.
The advanced management of sheet metal exhausts, the perfect coupling between the folds, the multiple possibilities of calculating the K factor, are just some of the tools provided by COMPUTES/CAD.
The possibility to create parametric objects allows you to create a solid father and from that, derive others of different size and characteristics. Also the connected 2d drawings will be updated to the new dimensions, with a considerable saving of time.
The frame module, integrated in the standard version, allows you to quickly model with the most common profiles. A customizable catalogue is already present, and allows you to choose the profile to use to create the frame. Dedicated functions also make it possible to manage tubular closing plates, reinforcement handkerchiefs, welding beads. The bill of materials is created automatically and exported in excel.
Parametric modelling of shapes (parallelepipeds, cones, spheres, etc.).
These shapes can be used for the creation of new solids but also for machining. It is possible to apply them directly with boolean operations of subtraction and addition of material.
The advantage is that you do not have to create profiles, constraints and dimensions when it comes to drawing basic geometries (such as parallelepipeds, cylinders, cones or spheres) and you can use these geometries to create or modify existing solids.
A possible and useful use is in solid imported steps.
It often happens that sheet metal solids molded with Cads that do not handle sheet metal controls have the exhaust area closed. This condition does not allow to apply the function to develop the sheet metal. With the possibility to manage the parametric shapes it is possible to apply a parallelepiped with Boolean subtraction operation, to eliminate the material in the discharge area.
COMPUTES/CAD allows you to open the native files of almost all 3d cad on the market (solidworks, solidedge, inventor, catia, NZ, ProE, just to name a few) without necessarily having to ask for their conversion in step or iges. Direct modeling also allows you to edit imported files, which are easily accessible in the same way as native files.
Automatic direct modeling.
Through direct modeling it is possible to apply changes to the faces of solids (even those imported stp or iges…) by simply touching the faces and dragging them with the appropriate manipulator.
With regard to sheet metal solids, COMPUTES/CAD is able to recognize bent faces, so it is not necessary to select all the thickness faces to apply the displacement of a bend.
Changing the dimensions of the parts, moving them shorter or longer will be extremely easy and fast. The folds of imported sheet metal parts can be changed in the corner and bend radius by simply dragging the appropriate manipulator. It is also possible to set a different shrinkage value for each bend in order to obtain a correct development.
Automatic creation of bugs, jealousies and deep-drawings.
A line, circle, rectangle, ellipse or any other geometry can be transformed with a quick command into an open or closed drawing.

By creating cracks on the edges, the exhausts are automatically generated.
The creation of assemblies can be done in two modes:
You can either draw all the parts first, and then create the assembly, or you can start from an empty file and create all the components.
From 2D to 3D.
You can import geometries from two-dimensional files into the 3D environment and use them to create solids and machinings.
The imported geometries will become parametric and it will be possible to modify them through constraints and dimensions.
Complete table management.
COMPUTES/CAD has a complete table environment in which you can enter the various views of the 3d models.
You can also use the table environment to draw from scratch using the classic two-dimensional commands found in each 2d cad.
In the table environment it is also possible to create parametric geometries that can be modified through dimensions and constraints.
COMPUTES/CAD has an external rendering engine that allows you to create photorealistic views through the application of materials, backgrounds and lights.
This particular process is automatically created from two profiles.
All quotas will be modifiable by the user even when the object is completed.
It will also be possible to create the sheet metal development views of the individual pipe parts.
With COMPUTES/CAD you can create frames using a unified profile catalogue. Custom profiles can easily be added to this catalogue.
All frame components will be listed in the bill of materials with their respective quantities and dimensions.
You will be able to create reinforcement tissues automatically.
Rivets or joint screws will be added automatically depending on the size of the chosen holes.
COMPUTES/CAD allows you to create complete assembly tables.
Automatic shot peening and BOM are added to the table to complete the basic information.
You can add the exploded view, sections and detail views.
Each view can be quoted automatically.
Parameterisation and configuration
With COMPUTES/CAD you can create parts and parametric assemblies. Through a spreadsheet, which can be connected with excel, it is possible to control the various dimensions of the parts, switch machining on and off, and make the features conditional according to the dimensions of the part.
Assemblies can also be made parametric; the great advantage of parameterization is the enormous time saving that is achieved when you have to create objects of different dimensions to the standard ones that have already been designed.
A parametric assembly, in fact, has the characteristic of changing its dimensions and possibly also its components, according to parameters. The 2D drawings connected to the components of the assemblies will be updated to the new dimensions.
